Introducing… Russell Dickerson

Born, raised and educated in Nashville you’d be forgiven for thinking that Russell Dickerson was designed in a country music laboratory! Ahead of the release of his first full length LP we’ve taken a look at Dickerson, who recently headinlined Nashville Meets London festival, to see what you can expect.

Who is he?

As we mentioned before Dickerson was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee so is a true son of Music City. He studied at Belmont University and soon grabbed himself a publishing deal in Nashville. It’s been a long and hard slog for Dickerson in the lead up to his debut album but he’s managed to cut his teeth on the road supporting the likes of David Nail, Billy Currington and Thomas Rhett on big US tours. This summer has seen him out on the road alongside Backstreet Boys and Nelly on the Florida Georgia Line ‘Smooth Tour’.

Where can we listen to him?

In 2011 Dickerson released his debut EP ‘Die to Live Again’ which was done independently and was the first step in receiving recognition and getting out on the road with artists to hone his skills.

2016 saw Dickerson release his second EP ‘Yours’ which came out with the single of the same title. ‘Yours’ found itself reaching number 14 on the Billboard Country chart and has taken Dickerson on another big step towards the big time.

On October 13th this year the ‘Yours’ LP will be released. This twelve track collection will be Dickerson’s first full length album.

What can we expect from his music?

To refer to Dickerson as pop-country would probably be the most fitting description. With catchy hooks and feel good tunes Dickerson is following the same route as tour mates Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line. Sometimes things get a little sickly sweet in his music but, as a fantastic songwriter, he seems to make it just sweet enough to not becoming cheesy.

Check out the single ‘Yours’ which has been rated as possibly the best love song of the year by Sirius XM.

Will we be seeing more of him?

Absolutely! After coming over to the UK for Nashville Meets London it would be no surprise to see him return in the near future – possibly at Country 2 Country 2018? Fans in the USA will be able to catch him on the ‘Smooth’ tour which continues throughout September before he heads out for some solo shows from October.

The big one for Dickerson will no doubt be the release of ‘Yours’ on October 13th where fans will finally be treated to a full album for the first time!
