Top New Country Music Releases This Week – 01/04/2019

Here are some of our top new releases for the week of 01/04/2019…

Little Big Town – The Daughters

LBT are back, as Karen Fairchild gently pleads over a barely-more-than-acoustic arrangement for a fairer, more equitable place for women.

Austin Jenckes – Fat Kid

Austin connects with outsiders everywhere on this song, co-written by and featuring Lori McKenna. Great vocal over this blues-country ballad. “Ain’t life just like high school sometimes….If you grew up in a small town in a big world like I did”. He’s playing Bush Hall in September as support to the Steel Woods.

Kree Harrison – I Love The Lie

Texas born American Idol runner-up releases this song co-written by Chris and Morgane Stapleton ahead of her second album. A heartbreak ballad with a bit of a 90’s feel.

Brooks and Dunn w/ Kacey Musgraves – Neon Moon

Whatever you think of Kacey, you can’t ignore her as she puts her stamp all over her update to this 1992 classic. Taken from the duo’s “Reboot” album, it’s likely to divide opinions but clearly Kix and Ronnie like it, so….?

Molly Tuttle – The High Road

Molly is tipped for a wider breakthrough this year, and this gentle bluegrass ballad won’t hurt at all. A simple traditional arrangement and Molly’s perfectly judged vocal.

Morgan Wallen – Cover Me Up

Morgan keeps this cover of the Jason Isbell track pretty straight, and makes a great job of it. It’s just a little bit fuller than the original, but still leaves plenty of space for the lyric.
