Here are some of our top new releases for the week of 13/05/2019…
Tyler Childers – House Fire
Taken from upcoming new album Country Squire, due out in August. If this stomping track is anything to go by, the follow up to his 2017 album Purgatory is one to look forward to. First release through his new deal with RCA, with a great video too.
Keith Urban – We Were
This was co-written by Eric Church, and you can hear the Chief in this song about a teenage love. It’s a step away from the sound on Graffiti U, but this “looking back” song still has a modern country sound and it’s sure to get lots of radio airplay.
Lady Antebellum – What If I Never Get Over You
Lady A’s first release with Big Machine, and presumably the lead-in to a forthcoming new album. Charles and Hilary trade verses in a song that they brought to C2C in March that tells two sides of a broken relationship. It feels like their more traditional territory (think Need You Now), albeit with a more modern sound courtesy of producer Dann Huff.
Home Free – Dive Bar Saints
The a capella group announced a Spring 2020 UK tour earlier this week, and this is the title track from their new album. They’re just so good at what they do and this is a top song to showcase their talents.
Willie Nelson – My Favorite Picture Of You
On the third anniversary of Guy Clark’s death, this is one Texan legend paying tribute to another. Clark wrote the song about an actual photo of his wife Susanna (you can see it on the cover of Clark’s album of the same name). “It’s a thousand words | In the blink of an eye | The camera loves you | And so do I”. Simple, yet brilliant, it’s Clark to a tee and Willie’s recording keeps all the intimacy of the original.
Thomas Rhett w/ Jon Pardi – Beer Can’t Fix
Nice team-up on this track from Rhett’s future release, Center Point Road. A laid back vibe underpins this tale of the miraculous healing power of beer to, well, practically any situation. It just has that easy, summer feel to it, even some mariachi horns make an appearance.
