Top New Country Music Releases This Week – 09/09/2019

Here are some of the top new releases for the week of 09-09-2019.

All of this week’s new tracks are also on our New Release Round-up playlist on Spotify, along with every other song we’ve included in this feature during the year so far. The playlist is at the bottom of the page – if you’re a Spotify user, give it a follow!

Luke Combs ft Brooks & Dunn – 1, 2 Many

We may have mentioned Luke Combs’ bid for world domination previously. Well, this is DEFINITELY one more step along the way. Unashamedly 90’s country, it’s a drinking song, it’s line-dance friendly – NOBODY is standing still while this is playing! “The countdown’s on when the first beer hits me | 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 too many” is a simple but great line to end the chorus. On Reboot, Combs guested for Brooks & Dunn. Now, Brooks & Dunn are guesting for him. Yes, Luke Combs is still rising, rising, rising all the way.

Miranda Lambert – Fooled Around And Fell In Love

Fans of a certain age will recall the Elvin Bishop original recording of this bluesy smoocher from the 70’s. It was given a second lease of life when featured in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy movie a few years back. Miranda’s latest tour begins today (Sept 13) and she’s  gathered together all of the artists who will be on the undercard at various points for this cover – that’s Maren Morris, Tenille Townes, Ashley McBryde, Elle King and Caylee Hammack. On paper, it probably shouldn’t work – but it kinda does, as each brings their own vocal talents and stylings into the mix. Think late night slow dance just before closing.

Little Big Town – Over Drinking

LBT have announced the release of their ninth studio album Nightfall on 17th January 2020, and they’ve released this track as a taster of what we can expect. It’s got a real slow and boozy, honky tonk feel to it with a bluesy guitar line and those trademark vocals. Sure to become an LBT classic.

Eric Paslay – Barefoot Blue Jean Night (Live)

Eric Paslay has just released a new album, Live In Glasgow, that perfectly captures the power and energy of his performance, and of course the rapturous support of his audience. Jake Owen recorded this song and took it to No.1 on the Country singles charts – it was Eric’s first no.1 as a song-writer.

Lainey Wilson – LA

Lainey’s been in the studio with Jay Joyce this year and you can hear his influence on this, the first fruit to be released from those sessions. A squelchy, rocking track that points to the contrast between the West Coast and the South – “I drive a Beamer through the mud | I’m kinda Redneck Hollywood” – it’s a very fine addition to Lainey’s catalog that also fits well into her live set, as we heard at The Long Road festival.

Whiskey Myers -Bitch

This is down home, dirty, rootsy, bluesy – in fact, everything we come to love and expect from the Texas southern rock 6 piece. Cody Cannon takes a break as a snarling John Jeffers steps up to the mic for this one, and boy is he ANGRY!  New album out at the end of the month.

Cody Jinks – Same Kind Of Crazy As Me

This is the first track to appear from the second of 2 new albums to be released by Cody Jinks in October –  The Wanting will be dropped a week after the already announced After The Fire.  The Texan keeps the outlaw tradition going as he explains he doesn’t go to church, doesn’t work for a living, gets up when he feels like it, but just wants to get along with the world if only it would let him.

Dillon Carmichael – 99 Problems (Fish Ain’t One)

Dillon Carmichael has a new EP coming soon titled I Do For You and this is the first track to appear from it. Mixing country, blues and southern rock, this light-hearted but hard rocking song shows Dillon’s deep, growling, outlaw country voice off to a tee.

Old Dominion – Midnight Mess Around

Matthew Ramsey wants you, and he wants you right… now! Hotel room, back of the car; doesn’t matter where, really. “Let your hair and your dress fall to the ground | How about a midnight, midnight mess around?” Smooth, slinky, a touch of soul, and a great vocal from Ramsey. OD are touring the UK later this year – tickets available here
