Sam Riggs – To Say Goodbye
No other genre produces songs of love, loss and tragedy the way that country music does. “I’m not ready for this | I’m not ready to let you go | I’m not ready to watch you slip away to a place that I don’t know | I’m not ready to see the sunlight fade out of your eyes | I’m not ready for this | I’m not ready to say goodbye”. Anyone who has felt the loss of a loved one will understand the many tears and the crushing heartbreak where that lyric comes from. The track was co-written by Josh Hoge, who has also written for Chris Young and Kane Brown.
Hootie & The Blowfish – Lonely On A Saturday Night
Darius and the boys bring a little country to this track, co-written by Eric Paslay. The band arrive in the UK this weekend for the start of their much anticipated UK tour.
Cody Jinks – Which One I Feed
Another release from upcoming album The Wanting. This one gives song to the cover image of the 2-headed wolf. “There’s a black and a white wolf in me | And I live and I die by which one I feed” describes the ongoing battle between good and evil within the heart of a man.
Steve Moakler – Push
Steve has a new album due in January. Unusually he’ll be releasing tracks in 3 song batches ahead of the album release. Push is taken from the first such batch, and is a declaration of his determination to “push” through to his wife if she ever feels that she’s facing any challenge alone.
Maddie & Tae – Everywhere I’m Going
The title track from the duo’s new EP, due later this month. It’s song that takes the idea of being home with the one you love as “my whole world” and riffs on that, with lyrics like “He’s as cool as California | Homegrown like they do it in Georgia | With a heart as big as the Lone Star State | Hard to catch like a Kansas breeze | Strong like a Tennessee hickory | He’s smooth like the bourbon Kentucky makes”. Its all tied to an uplifting melody and the girl’s trademark vocals. There’s a cool video to go with the song too.
Jon Stork – Another Town
Radio Cowboy is the debut album from Jon Stork, who hails from Beasley in southern Texas. This track has a rocking, driving guitar line and powerful drums under a breakup lyric with a strong vocal delivery.
Brantley Gilbert – Man Of Steel
Taken from the newalbum Fire & Brimstone released today (4th Oct), this track has a dark and heavy overtone with a 90’s rock feel to it. Brantley lays out how he’ll be there come what may. “I wanna be your man of steel | Be your shoulder, your shield | Your rock when the road unrolls, starts goin’ to hell”
