Top New Country Music Releases This Week – 28/10/2019

Here are some of the top new releases for the week of 28/10/2019.

All of this week’s new tracks are also on our New Release Round-up playlist on Spotify, along with every other song we’ve included in this feature during the year so far. The playlist is at the bottom of the page – if you’re a Spotify user, give it a follow!

Ray Fulcher – Ghost

Ray Fulcher has his fingerprints on so many of Luke Combs’ best known and most successful songs (including When It Rains It Pours and Even Though I’m Leaving) but he’s a performing and recording artist in his own right. This track, fittingly released on Halloween, tells of a guy haunted by a lost love. “You’re… every diamond shinin’ promise in that pawn shop | You’re… every song that’s on in all the late night truck stops | You’re the letters in the top drawer that I ain’t got to yet | You’re anywhere and everywhere I been”. An outside bet for a place at the CMA Songwriters evening at C2C 2020, perhaps?

Stoney LaRue – Falling and Flying

Stoney LaRue’s new album Onward was released today (Nov 1st). Keep your eyes open for our review of the album coming soon, but in the meantime you might recognise this track. It was originally performed by Bad Blake and Tommy Sweet. Still not getting it? How about Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell in the movie Crazy Heart?

Micky & The Motorcars – Alone Again Tonight

The new album from Micky & The Motorcars, Long Time Comin’, was released today (1st Nov) and has literally been a long time coming – 2014 was the last full album from the Texas-based troupe. Look out for our review of the album, coming soon. Meanwhile, Alone Again Tonight is a mid-tempo track with a solid guitar riff over a reedy organ that sees Micky Braun singing the story of a lonely woman who “…knows just what she’s doing | She knows she’s playing with fire | But she don’t wanna got home | Alone again tonght”.

Larry Fleet – Lied About Love

Tennessee native Larry Fleet is another voice to come through the Real Country tv show, where he was mentored by Jake Owen. This track with its dominating bottom guitar line is a great showcase for his soul-tinged vocal.

The Swon Brothers w/ Vince Gill – Travellin’ On

Who better for the Swon Brothers to team up with than fellow Okie Vince Gill? The chords in the verses on this slow-paced paean to living life without regrets remind me a little of Joe Walsh’s Life’s Been Good To Me (So Far).  See if you can hear it too?

Here’s our New Release Round-up 2019 playlist – enjoy!
