William Clark Green – She Likes The Beatles (Live)
Amid the noise created by certain other releases this week, it would be a great shame if this album were to get lost. Live At Cheatham Street Warehouse is the new album from William Clark Green, and it’s out today (8th November). It’s raw, it’s real, it’s stripped down, it’s a real “close your eyes and you’re there” experience. This track, She Likes The Beatles, is originally from his 2013 album Rose Queen and here it closes out the show. If you want to see the whole show in full, WCG has very kindly put the full video up on YouTube – link here -> https://youtu.be/0JZvU6nCgDg . Enjoy!
Luke Combs – Better Together
Probably (definitely?) the most eagerly awaited new album of 2019 has now landed. Luke Combs’ What You See Is What You Get was released today (8th November) and contains 17 tracks(!), most of which play to his familiar strengths and everyone will have their own favourites. But this one is a little different. Better Together abandons the often up-tempo, guitar heavy good time style and instead is served as an intimate piano ballad. Luke’s vocal was recorded close to the mic, allowing him to rein in his delivery and keep it a little quieter as if he’s singing to just one person, right in front of him. Even if the lyrics still reference boats and beer and BB guns it’s still very nicely done, and quite tender in its way.
Steve Moakler – How Have We Never
Steve Moakler has dropped the latest pre-release set of tracks from his upcoming new album Blue Jeans. Here he wonders “How have we never?” when they’re obviously good friends, and possibly more. Catchy lines over a rhythmic track. The new album is shaping up nicely.
Levi Hummon w/ Runaway June – Cowboy Take Me Away
It’s 20 years since the Dixie Chicks released this now classic love song. Levi’s father Marcus was one of the co-writers, so it’s fitting that Levi should record it now. Runaway June do more than simply add their harmonies, they also add a little of their own character to the track.
Tracy Byrd – Back To Texas (Live)
Another new live album, this one from 90’s country star Tracy Byrd. Live At Billy Bob’s Texas was released today (8th November) has Tracy with a full band playing through a career that stretches back to 1992. Back To Texas was originally released on Byrd’s 1998 hit album I’m From The Country.
