Top New Country Music Releases – 10/04/2020

Here are some of the top new releases for the week of 10/04/2020.

All of this week’s new tracks are also on our New Release Round-up playlist on Spotify, along with every other song we’ve included in this feature during the year so far. If you’re a Spotify user, give it a follow so you can keep up to date!

Parker McCollum – Like A Cowboy

Co-written by Chris Stapleton, this is a track originally recorded by Randy Montana who, more recently, co-wrote the Luke Combs’ anthem Beer Never Broke My Heart. If anyone is going to describe their approach to life as Like A Cowboy then you’d want it to be a Texan, and Parker McCollum happily obliges.

Larry Fleet – Where I Find God

Larry and co-writer Connie Rae Harrington’s effort to distill all the different times, places and situations where they had felt God outside of a church into a song. 4 minutes of warm, heart felt, uplifting Southern reflection on the serendipity of life.

Brandon Lay – Walkaway Joe

Walkaway Joe was originally a 1992 hit for Trisha Yearwood and Don Henley. Brandon Lay updates it as a classic heartland ballad. Originally released last year exclusively on Amazon Music, it’s now been given a welcome general release.

Casper McWade and Cody Jinks – Don’t Follow

Casper and Cody have joined forces for this cover of the old Alice In Chains song. You can call it a “country” version of the song but the original was heavy on the acoustic anyway – they’ve added some fiddle and taken off the 90’s rock production feel.

Kenny Chesney – Knowing You

Taken from Chesney’s upcoming album Here And Now, due for release on 1st May. Knowing You is a waltz time track with a relaxed tempo that sees Chesney reflecting on a friendship that left a deep mark on him, and wishing the best for that person despite having gone their separate ways.

Maddie & Tae – I Don’t Need To Know

If The Way It Feels, the second album from Maddie & Tae, has seemed like a long time coming, that’s because it has! Their first album was five years ago and the collapse of their previous record label explains most of the time that has passed. They’ve also been releasing cuts from this new album for over a year, but everyone can relax now that the full 15 track set is out in the wild. I Don’t Need To Know talks about one of those relationships where you’re constantly getting reports on your other half’s activities. “The only thing worse than my imagination is all of these thrid party observations | I don’t need to know”.

Tenille Townes – The Most Beautiful Things

“Why do we close our eyes when we pray, cry, kiss, dream? | Maybe the most beautiful things in this life are felt and never seen”. Tenille Townes just has a knack of condensing big ideas into simple notions, and doing it with such feeling. The Most Beautiful Things is a perfect example. “The only way I know any of this might even be true | Is the love I feel for you”.
