Thomas Rhett Delivers Heart-Racing “Slow Down Summer” Official Music Video
Superstar Closes Out 2021 with Fifth Career GRAMMY® Awards Nomination
On the heels of Thomas Rhett’s fifth career GRAMMY® Awards nomination, the superstar delivers the heart-racing official music video today for “Slow Down Summer” (The Valory Music Co.) on YouTube and CMT. The video made its broadcast premiere on CMT, CMT Music and ViacomCBS Times Square Billboards and is available to watch on YouTube here.
Directed by P. Tracy, the music video bursts with technicolor as it follows the pulsating journey of “a young couple desperately clinging to those last moments of summer —and their short-lived romance” (Billboard). Thomas Rhett dials up a powerful piano-driven performance alongside gripping flashbacks as the inevitable change in seasons morphs into a crushing reality — ultimately sealing the couple’s fate.
“Slow Down Summer” serves as the first taste of Thomas Rhett’s sixth studio album WHERE WE STARTED to be released early 2022 and has quickly ascended into the Top 30 at Country radio. The music follows COUNTRY AGAIN: SIDE A — a creative milestone, highlighting the star’s personal roots and unique song craft. The album, which “brims with the sort of self-revealing songs that have turned him into a superstar,” (PEOPLE) earned Thomas Rhett’s 18th career No. 1 with back-to-back chart-toppers, while the title track is recognized with a Best Country Song nomination at The 64th Annual GRAMMY® Awards.
Ten years after signing his first record deal with Big Machine Label Group’s The Valory Music Co., the arena-packing superstar — dubbed “the most reliable maker of No. 1 singles in country music” (Variety) — has five studio albums, 18 MULTI-PLATINUM and GOLD-certified No. 1 singles and over 12 BILLION streams to his credit, as well as a 2019 ACM Awards Entertainer of the Year title and a coveted musical guest appearance on Saturday Night Live. He has been honored with eight ACM Awards, two CMA Awards, five GRAMMY® Awards nominations, plus trophies from the CMT Music Awards, Billboard Awards and iHeartRadio Awards, in addition to being recognized with two CMA Triple Play awards for penning three No. 1 songs within a 12-month period. Continuing his reign with the longest current active streak of consecutive No. 1s in the format (Mediabase/Country Aircheck Chart), Thomas Rhett has headlined multiple nationwide and international tours and some of music’s biggest festivals, remaining “at the top of his musical game” (Winnipeg Free Press), most recently wrapping up his headlining THE CENTER POINT ROAD TOUR.
