Absolute Radio Country Women Of Country

To celebrate International Women’s Day on the 8th March Absolute Radio Country will be shining a spotlight on the women of country music over the last six decades. This brand-new documentary series ‘Women of Country’ is being presented by Grammy nominee and Country Music Association Awards winner Ashley McBryde.

The show looks at the legacy of women in the country music scene from the 60s right up until the current day. It takes a deep dive into both the heritage and experiences of women in the industry and how they helped to shape the genre.

Made up of six hour-long programmes, which will all be released together as a boxset on International Women’s Day, the series features an all-female cast and will be available in the FREE Absolute Radio mobile app.

The first episode of the series will broadcast on air on Sunday 6th March at 7pm, with each episode following weekly and each decade show airing on their respective decade station.

“I am so excited to be a part of Women in Country: Through The Decades on Absolute Radio Country. These Women are the reason why I fell in love with country music and why I am lucky enough to do it today”, said Ashley McBryde. “My hope is that listeners of all ages will enjoy these powerful stories and may just find something new as we celebrate the amazing Women that dominated each generation.”

Absolute Radio Country Programme Manager Ricky Marshall said “Women have been the backbone of Country Music for decades and I’m thrilled that we’re able to be able to tell the stories of some of the most iconic artists on Absolute Radio Country.
